The Global News Blog is an editorial and aggregate news site covering the world news. We’re generalists in terms of our intellectual curiosity, but we love the news and journalism. We just don’t have the time or resources to cover the World News the way we’d like. Now if it weren’t for the day jobs or the need to monetize….At the same time, we were looking for an excuse to transmit, rather than just being a passive receiver of, the news. We wanted to highlight random news items and huge, hard-hitting stories. Whatever catches our eye and sticks in our brain.

 

We’re not really committed to being objective and maintaining perfect journalistic standards. We’ll use and allow a healthy dose of editorial authority when we need—and sometimes just when we want—but we try to escape simple left-right dynamics—both in our own intellectual life and on this site.

 

We want to be witnesses—firsthand reports when we can of course—but also a witness in the larger sense of adding our voice beyond our own personal spheres of social media and information consumption. This, in large part, is the genesis for our What Happened series.

 

But as a way of expanding our views and exposure, we also want to be something of an open source for news, content, and discussion. If you visit our site and like our take on the news, maybe you’d like to share some of your own reactions to what’s going on in the world and what you’re reading about.
